Digitization

The staff of the DCAPS Digital Media Group provides expert scanning of photographs, manuscripts, text-based materials, audio/video content, and rare artifacts, using the latest hardware and software applications. Services include bitonal, grayscale, and color scanning (with special procedures for scanning fragile artifacts); digital photography (including color balancing); a/v digitization and format migration (in-house or outsourced); document structuring of image files, and optical character recognition (OCR). Also provided by this group is web design and development services, including usability assessment.

- Zeutschel 10000 TT bound-book scanner
- Better Light Super 6-K2 digital camera
- Canon 5D-MarkII Digital SLR
- Multiple flatbed devices, including Epson 10000 XL tabloid
- Fujitsu sheet-fed scanner
- Nikon Coolscan 5000
- Epson R2880 Archival Printer
- A/V digitization suite for VHS; audio cassette & U-Matic (forthcoming); DCAPS provides support for outsourcing all other content
